Warfare 2001
Game 4 - vs Libyan Egyptian
Libyan is a big army - very big indeed.I decide that my best bet is to drive the warband straight up the middle - hopefully that will be where his bowmen, or maybe warband will be? I also put my elephant command next to a large wood, assuming this will be a useful place to defend another Libyan warbands flank.
But, I'm partly right - the warbands are on the far right (top of the picture) and lots of Bw (I) and Ps (I) are in the middle.
So - my Bw (I) are facing Wb (F), and my Wb are facing Bw(I). However my Bw are in a command of 31.5, wheras his are in a command of 43 !!!
The two lines charge together - I just manage to stop my warband at just beyond 4", but the Libyans are forced to close to just within 4", and so suffer an extra round of initial bowfire. My bowmen prove deadly - his prove to be pants, and whist I manage to get in against he bow line almost unscathed, the Libyans have lost 8 elements out of a break point of 10.5 by the time they can close!
I quickly start to decimate the bowmen, however then Sea People are lurking behind, and release odd blades to capitalize on my warbands breakthroughs, and soon the tables are turning. When the Libyan warband reach my right flank, my ability to kill them dries up entirely. Soon my CinC's command has broken, as all the Bw (I) fall like, erm, Bw (I) vs Wb.
It's looking hairy, as all of a sudden my warband are suddenly close to defeat as well - and with the chariotry now coming into play it's even more hairy - but then I roll a 6 with the warband command, and throw 6 separate elements into combat... giving me a chance to win !
Which will prove the decisive combat?
A Wb vs a Ps (I) who cannot recoil?
2 Wb vs an overlapped Bw (I) ?
2 Wb vs an overlapped Bd (F) ?
......or 2 Wb vs a Cv (O) ?
Of course, the first 3 fail - but the last one wins !!! 7-3 to me !!!
