My Latest Toy!
In Milan at the DBM competition a few years ago I picked up one of the new terrain cloths from Spain - and they are really cool!
Basically its a good quality wargames cloth with some sort of photo-effect random terrain on it - the best way I can really describe it is to as its like someone has printed one of the backgrounds from a PC game like Age of Empires or Cossacks or similar onto a cloth. This means its not a flat single colour, but the pattern has texture, and occasionally it has patches of rocks or broken ground to make it a bit more interesting - as opposed to my current plain green cloth with dirty brown stains on it from where I tried to spray it. The cloth is good quality, and is seamed along all the edges so it looks like it won't fray.
They are sold out of Spain by a Spanish wargamer (who I played in Rome ), and he has set up a website at www.miniaturesgames.com with pics and stuff - I even think it says you can get a bespoke one made using your own picture if you want. They certainly get the Madaxeman stamp of approval - highly recommended !
Anyway, enough of this, here's some pictures of my 15mm Vikings on a green version of the cloth!
Here they are again - in ambush!
This is the seaming on the cloth.
Here it is in a game - Egyptians vs Timurids
