"QRF" Geoff is one of TMP's most enthusiastic posters, managing to effortlessly walk the line between informative and friendly posting, and shameless product plugs for QRF's excellent and ever expanding range of tanks and infantry from every conflict going. Geoff also gives us a tantalizing glimpse of how he was drawn into the business through the strange magical powers someone had invested in a hand-carved WW2 Russian ground attack aircraft, unveils a hitherto hidden side in that he occasionally beats one of his own children (erm, at HOTT. And Very Occassionally - we all know about small kids and dice rolling games eh?), as well as admitting to be a lawyer who likes tanks (which must be the punchline to a joke somewhere ...?). Unfortunately he has kept the secret of how QRF make a profit even on their tremendous value platoon packs a little more close to his chest....
I really don't recall the 'first time', or even
how. I'm just feel I'm one of those who has always played with toy soldiers. My
large model railway always seemed to have tanks and soldiers moving across it as
the trains went round. I guess I was inspired by a copy of Chainmail, given to
me by a friend at school. Strangely, I never played it. I still have it
(somewhere!)
I do love my 15mm modern Americans - they came up so well, in their 3 tone scheme. I never get time to play with them these days, so they will probably stay in their box for a few more years. At the moment, I am rather attached to my HOTT army, which I play with my 5 year old daughter. Sometimes she even lets me win!
This is the hardest part - I have no idea how
to answer that! I hardly ever get time to read, but when I find a good book I'll
read it in a couple of days. 9 times out of 10, what I read are factual
reference books (for fun!), when I'm not reading my law manuals!! |
