Red / Russian Army Museum Moscow
I had the good fortune to go there recently, and took a whole load of pictures.
Here they are - all are thumbnails, so you can click on them to see a much bigger version.
The original picture files are all between 450 and 700k 1600x1200 images taken with my Konica Minolta Dimage A200. Email me if you are desperate for any of them !
The next page has the tank park outside, with modern and WW2 vintage tanks, an armoured train, and a set of post war aircraft
The Russian Air force inventory
Early War Banners
Main Russian WW2 small arms - with pictures of their designers
Inset of German infantry from a large battle painting of the Brest Fortress on the first day of the war - lots of uniform detail
Russians from the same painting
German 37mm gun - interesting camo scheme. In the foreground is the engine of the first Russian pilot to crash into a column of enemy tanks once his plane was disabled
Same again
Red Square Parade - 7/11/1941. This parade is famous as the troops marched out of Red Square and straight to the front
Tail section of a Heinkel 111 that was knocked out by a Russian pilot (Talalykhin) flying his own plane into the tail section, and chopping it out with his propellers after running out of ammo. The Russian pilot I think survived this attack, but not the battle for Moscow, but this pseudo-kamikaze approach became a not uncommon practice...little heard of in the West.
More banners
AA gun
This is where the Iron Crosses grow - large showcase full of Iron Crosses and German small arms captured from a railroad truck after a counterattack in the battle for Moscow. The Iron Crosses were intended for German troops after they won.....
AA truck. Another WW2 Russian High Tech solution
Flying boat model
T34/76 cast turret from the Stalingrad hall. It has a number of fairly painful looking holes in it!
Stalingrad display, with real 76mm gun in the foreground
Russian AT gun
and again
Tiger Tank armour - not quite thick enough.
Mortar
Russian 45mm AT gun and HMG
1/10 scale model of SU 100
1/10 scale model of JS2. The JS2 featured a lot in the museum.
Russian equipment display
The Americans were also in the war apparently
Po-2 biplane bomber, used for night raids by Polykarpov. Polykarpov's most famous plane is the I-16 fighter.
ISU 122
Mosaic wall in the main hallway and atrium. Nice moustache!
1/10 model of a King Tiger - again, interesting camouflage, probably copied from primary sources!
1/10 scale model of a T34/85
ISU 152 model
